At Prairie Creek Retrievers we strive to provide an environment for your puppy to grow and develop the necessary skills to achieve all that they are capable of. The proper care and nutrition for your puppy is an essential component in the ability of dogs to perform at any level. Knowing the importance of this, we offer the best healthcare possible for your retriever.

Prairie Creek Retrievers goes above and beyond for each and every student, customizing their individual program because we believe that all students learn and develop at different rates and in different ways.
Whether we are teaching basic obedience or the handling skills for blind retrieves, we make every effort to ensure our lessons are understood in order to provide the building blocks for the next steps in the journey to become a big dog. We believe that flexibility, balance, and advancement through positive learning will benefit any dog and bring out the best in all.

Retriever Training:
Puppy Head Start Program: This is the very best way to introduce your new puppy (2-5 months old) to the life of the hunting retriever. . It takes a lot of time to properly socialize your pup, which is an incredibly important step in building the foundation for hunting dog development. We like to start them early for skills they’ll use there whole lifetime.
BASIC Retriever Training Program: All dogs must be 5 months old or older to enter this program. This 4-month program teaches your pup the basics of retriever training and includes the All Breed Obedience Program. The basics of hand signals are taught during this time as well so that in the event you want additional field training for your dog it will have an advantage. Your dog will be introduced to gunshots, decoys, duck calls, boats, blinds, and 4-wheelers during this stage of training while getting highly socialized around other dogs. You can expect your dog to be obedient at home and in the field be able to perform simple doubles on both land and water. Your dog will be able to compete at the Started Level in UKC or the Junior Hunter Level in AKC hunt test 4 month program.
TRANSITION Retriever Training Program: Designed to advance all of your retriever’s skills. All dogs must be at least 7 months old and have completed our BASIC Retriever Training Program, or prove appropriate skills proficiency. A lot of complex and advanced drills are used during this time to teach your dog the skills of running blind retrieves on both land and water. Your dog will be introduced to difficult marking scenarios as well. You can expect your dog to quietly honor other dogs as they perform their retrieves. At the end, your dog should be able to compete at the Seasoned Level in UKC or the Senior Hunter Level in AKC hunt test.
FINISHED Retriever Training Program: Our program will further your retriever’s skills into some advanced commands and understanding. All dog must be at least 7 months old and have completed our BASIC and TRANSITION Retriever Training Programs or prove appropriate skills proficiency. At the end of this program, your dog will have the skills needed to be an advanced retriever in the field. You can expect your dog to do complex blind retrieves as well as multiple marks at extreme distances while showing steadiness and multiple mark memory. At the end, your dog should be able to compete at the Finished Level in UKC or the Master Hunter Level in AKC hunt test. Dogs are fed with top nutrition to keep proper weight and conditioning.
